There are three main pieces that make up a website:
- A domain name or URL such as example.com. This is typically your company name or a simple variation of the company/your name.
- The pages or content that make up the website. Clients are required to provide all the final copy and images prior to site design.
A hosting company for your website. Recommended hosting companies are Siteground, Namecheap, or HostGator (if you are using WordPress). Wix has its own pricing structure.
I use WordPress.org to create websites for my clients. I personally use self-hosted WordPress and highly recommend it, because it’s customizable and easy to use. After testing a lot of WordPress themes, I decided to choose Astra and GeneratePress with Elementor, a drag and drop builder, so the websites are super easy to use when you don’t know how to code.
I also use Wix for clients who are completely unfamiliar with coding or don’t need a whole lot of customization.
However, I’m open to working with any theme you purchased or chosen.
I use Asana to manage the web design project. Asana is where all of the tasks and deadlines are listed both for me and for the client. Asana is a better than managing projects via email. Also, Asana is app for on the go! Clients can see all of the tasks that go into the project as well as the deadlines on one page. This way, we can both make sure to meet the deadlines and work smoothly.
Email is preferred. It helps to maintain a record of communication and to ensure that both parties are mutually agreeing. Email allows for a paper trail. However, if there is confusion or an emergency short calls are allowed.
I can also take you through the steps to learn how to make minor edits to text and photos. Or, I can happily update your site for an hourly fee.
If for any reason client decides to cancel project, at any time, Kaya B. Designs will retain the 50% deposit.
